Fabrication of Quantum Effect Devices and Their Characterization in the Ballistic Transport Regime

Transport study in finite lateral superlattices are carried with varying gate numbers of the surface gate fingers. Evidence of potential modulation in the channel induced by the surface gate electrodes is observed. Conductance study suggests formation of a one-dimensional propagating path across the modulated channel. Thermopower study across the same structure suggests the formation of a similar one-dimensional channel, which is probably due to disordered potential fluctuations across the channel.
