Event Detection and Visualization Based on Phasor Measurement Units for Improved Situational Awareness
Abstract
dc:descriptionIn addition to the new methods presented for the processing of PMU data, techniques for visualization of PMU data in its processed and unprocessed forms are described. A new technique based on graphical processing units (GPUs), developed to allow rendering speeds to match the relatively fast data rate of PMUs, is presented, along with results demonstrating the marked increase in visualization speed. Some of the benefits of speeding up contouring are discussed, including how PMU derivative information can be visualized with GPU-based rendering.
