Geometric and Game-Theoretic Control of Energy Assets in Small-Scale Power Systems

The work presented in this dissertation takes a game-theoretic approach to balancing the supply and demand for energy. Since the action of one element on a small power system can influence the entire system, it is then useful to view components as players in a nonzero sum game, where they compete for resources. Much of the work is focused on demand-side control, which has received little attention in the research literature. Nonlinear geometric control is shown to be highly effective in the game-theoretic construct to balance the objectives of the load with the needs of the system.
