Low Energy Electronic Raman Scattering in Cuprate High Temperature Superconductors

The temperature dependence of the 2$\Delta$-peak in overdoped Tl-2201 implies that the superconducting gap opens very rapidly below the critical temperature. The measured peak intensity as a function of temperature, however, shows an anomalous behavior. A magnetic field is observed to affect Raman spectra in way similar to the way temperature does. Nevertheless, the peak intensity change as a function of magnetic field is different from that of temperature. The upper critical fields were extracted by analyzing the field dependence of the 2$\Delta$-peak intensity. The upper critical fields obtained from Raman scattering in magnetic field show that superconducting order is present above the irreversibility field obtained from magnetization measurements.
