X -Ray Diffraction Rotational Microrheology
Abstract
dc:descriptionRotational single particle tracking microrheology can be used to find the storage and dissipative behavior of viscoelastic fluids of much higher viscosity than translational single particle tracking. The technique of X-ray diffraction rotational tracking has the ability to track the rotational motion of single crystals to a resolution of 80murad with a time resolution of 0.02 seconds. Rotational microrheology studies of single crystal Alumina tracer particles suspended in liquid decanoic acid show subdiffusive behavior transitioning towards diffusive behavior with a crossover time of 20-50 sec. The same system shows superdiffusive motion in the solid state below the glass transition temperature of the decanoic acid.
