Quantum Monte Carlo Study of Zero -Point Effects in Different Systems

Finally, we report simulations on small pH2 droplets at low temperatures. We reconcile two intriguing observations whereby the clusters appear to be superfluid and yet show evidence for solid-like order. We find magic cluster sizes that exhibit a more rigid structure, due to inherent solid-like order. Other non-magic sizes quantum melt and become superfluid easily. Superfluidity is localized on the surface of large clusters, while solid-like order prevails at the core.
