A Comparison of Iowa Test of Basic Skills Scores of Students in Year -Round Schools Versus Non -Year -Round Schools
Abstract
dc:descriptionGiven the increasing popularity of the year-round calendar in Chicago, this study was conducted to investigate whether or not increased continuity fostered by the year-round calendar had any kind of impact on the increased academic performance of students. The students in the sample population were continuously exposed to this modality of instruction for a period of three years. The schools under study were paired according to their similarities in geographical location within the City of Chicago, as much as other similarities in social and economic conditions of their students.
