Perceptions on Learning: A Study of at -Risk Middle School Students, Their Parents, Teachers, and Administrators

The findings of this study suggest a number of issues drawn from respondents perspectives toward the impact of learning for the at-risk student. Visible connections among these elements of hands-on learning, cooperative group work and technology use were clearly identified. Furthermore, when these elements were integrated through authentic tasks and assessment in a non-traditional environment, the results identified motivation and student empowerment to be the most important factors in learning for this group.
