A Description and Analysis of the Perceptions of Students in the Gang Deactivation Program: In an Urban High School

The conclusions revealed that: (a) Students experiencing gang-related problems within the school indicated there was more agreement among them that less serious behavior decreased while the Program was in process; (b) perceptions of students were only fairly uniform in response to items of less serious behaviors; (c) perceptions of the students did change according to the severity of the questions; (d) that it is perceived that students with youth gang problems are frequent discipline problems in the school; and (e) the youth gang problem negatively affects the academic and social climate in this urban high school.
