Finally, inflexibility in school scheduling, the immediacy of paperwork demands, and a lack of common meeting time are functions that influence the nature of collaboration in the school. Most importantly, teacher initiative to overcome deeply ingrained professional norms of privacy and autonomy plays a critical role in establishing collaborative school environments.
