An Interpretive Study of Client Graduation Thresholds in the University-Sponsored Technology Incubator

Theoretical propositions derived from the data suggest that graduation thresholds are highly variable, context specific and influenced by funding structures, personnel development and technology sector business and intellectual property characteristics. As such, empirically-based graduation policy recommendation are offered that are flexible in their application, specific to the institution and incorporate accountability mechanisms for monitoring those aspects most relevant to USTI client tenancy. A range of additional research needs and opportunities was identified.
