Relationships Between Organization Structure and the Institutionalization of Service -Learning in Engaged Community Colleges

Abstract

dc:description

Significant relationships were found between the components of organization structure (centralization, complexity, formalization interconnectedness, organizational slack and size) and the institutionalization of service-learning. Significant relationships were not found between the form of service-learning utilized by colleges and the level of institutionalization of service-learning in the sample group. By knowing whether a relationship exists between organization structure and the institutionalization of service-learning, colleges may begin to develop a unique set of organized activities to further service-learning at the institution and develop specific strategies for the institutionalization of service-learning.
