Educational Research Visualizations: Scientific Warrants in Early-Phase *Research
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis dissertation addresses the integration of advanced visualization methodologies into education in order to create appropriate new forms of research and thereby improving the diffusion and adoption of effective innovations. Beginning with an historical analysis of how meaning making via visualization systems has become an essential engine of science, and how today an appropriate visualization methodology for education can be created as an Educational Research Visualization exemplar. The research on the creation of an ERV provides details of the validation methods and technologies that converge to build this visualization methodology for education so as to create scientific warrants in research's early phases. These forms of visualization are truly scientific visualization methods for education, and use the filming methods of ethnography to create a video database resource.
