Promoting Social Responsiveness for Young Children With Disabilities by Enhancing the Reinforcing Value of Social Interactions

This study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of an intervention program to increase social responsive of two young children with autism. A multiple baseline design across children was employed. The effects of the intervention were inconsistent across settings and children. Several factors might have contributed to these results, including fidelity of the procedures, feasibility of implementation, interventionist related variables, peer related variables, and intensity of the intervention. Each of these factors is discussed and suggestions are provided for future research.
