Development of a Hybrid Travel Time Forecasting Model With GIS: Design and Implementation Issues

Abstract

dc:description

For the simulation and evaluation of the hybrid forecasting model, parts of historical databases have been utilized as real-time traffic data by implementing a real-time traffic data simulator. Based on the evaluation, this research shows that the hybrid forecasting model effectively deals with the complex nature of traffic data. This research demonstrated that the hybrid forecasting model could assist in providing relatively accurate future travel time on road networks for both traffic managers and travelers by utilizing readily transferable computing software and hardware resources.
