Modeling Resident Satisfaction: Comparison of the Francescato and Fishbein-Ajzen TRA Models

Abstract

dc:description

A military on-post family housing site is selected as a setting for this study. Since this dissertation is the first study applying the TRA to housing satisfaction studies, it reveals many limitations with a typical housing setting. This study draws statistical and practical superiority of the traditional Francescato model (i.e., a belief-based model) over a newly proposed TRA model (i.e., an attitude-based model) to measure a resident's satisfaction with his or her housing environment. A more extensive effort in addressing the nature of the relationship between empirical measures of a resident's beliefs, values, and attitudes related to his or her living environment is recommended. Implications for future research based on theoretical, analytical, and substantive issues for housing satisfaction studies are identified.
