Modernization and Differential Fertility in Ethiopia - a Multivariate Analysis

Abstract

dc:description

Not much is known about the demographic situation of Ethiopia. In the absence of a national census and vital registration system, demographic data is still scanty. The sources for the available data and their limitations are discussed. The country has been experiencing high levels of fertility but studies on fertility differentials are non-existent. Drawing on the experience of other developing countries, an attempt is made to examine fertility differentials by using a simple measure of fertility, the child-woman ratio.
