Computer Analysis and Synthesis of a Sung Vowel
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis paper presents generalized information on digital analysis and synthesis of sung vowels while examining in detail the analysis and synthesis of the sung vowel "a" as in father. A random vocal sample is compared to published data in an attempt to indicate areas needing further clarification. A detailed analysis of amplitude envelope, frequency deviation, and spectral data is followed by an examination of alternatives in synthesis modeling. From these alternatives, nonlinear/filter synthesis is chosen for implementation. The methods used and problems encountered are presented in detail.
