The Roots of State Intervention in The Contemporary Brazilian Economy
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis study attempts to explain the character of state intervention in the Brazilian economy, i.e. it attempts to explain why the state has implemented certain policies instead of others. In order to follow the process through which the roots of state intervention in the Brazilian economy have developed, the study reviews Brazilian history from its origins. Special attention is given to the period going from the military take-over in 1964 to the beginnings of the present crisis in the late seventies and early eighties.
