Abstract
dc:descriptionThe synthesis of 4-methyl-2,6-bis{1-hydroxy-1-(trifluoromethyl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl}aniline (2) in several steps from 4-methyl-2-{1-hydroxy-1-(trifluoromethyl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl}aniline (5) provides a necessary precursor for the incorporation of a stabilizing tridentate ligand in compounds of hypervalent nonmetallic elements.
