Performance Evaluation of Token Control Networks
Abstract
dc:descriptionWe are concerned here with the evaluation of a network access method, known as token control scheme, commonly used in loop networks. An exact analytical and empirical model are developed for the cases where exhaustive service and non-exhaustive service disciplines are used, respectively. Accuracies in the values of average network access delay predicted by the empirical model and simpler approximation models are compared to values obtained from simulation. The performance of stop-and-wait ACK/NAK ARQ schemes are evaluated. Trade-offs between average access delay and average end-to-end throughput are discussed.
