Rapid Acquisition of Telephone Line Channel for High Speed Data Transmission Without Using Training Sequences
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis thesis discusses the problem of rapid acquisition of a transmission channel characteristics in presence of impairments such as phase hits, phase jitters, amplitude jitter and noise. The channel acquisition is achieved without using long training sequences but the data itself is used to acquire the channel. This problem is discussed with reference to a orthogononal frequency division multiplexed modem for high speed data transmission over limited bandwidth channels. Algorithms developed in this thesis have shown that it is possible to acquire the channel characteristics and remove the other impairments in a few bauds and transmit error free data with only random noise as the limitation.
