Modeling and Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Sands

Abstract

dc:description

The main objective of this study is to develop a material model for sands based on the concepts of the theory of plasticity. The model could be used in finite element analysis of transient behavior of soil structure under dynamic loading. The model, to qualify as an acceptable constitutive law for cyclic behavior of sands, should be able to represent the following aspects of behavior: (a) Hysteretic energy dissipation; (b) Accumulated irreversible deformation; (c) Volumetric deformations.
