Infrared Radiation of Metal Oxidation Chemical Reaction Flames
Abstract
dc:descriptionFlames of metal oxidation chemical reactions, where metal vapors of alkali or alkali-earth atoms react with strong oxidizers such as the halogen or nitrous oxide molecules, have been examined for their stimulated and spontaneous infrared radiative properties. Various thermodynamic, spectroscopic, and thermochemical parameters for the reaction product salt vapors have been calculated in order to characterize energy transfer mechanisms and radiative emissions. Infrared spontaneous emission spectra have been calculated and a computer program written for least-squares determination of vibrational population distributions from experimental spectra.
