The critical magnetic field curves of superconducting molybdenum and cadmium above 0.03 degrees K
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe critical magnetic field curves of molybdenum and cadmium have been measured from T to 0.03 oK, using the critical c field curve of aluminum as a thermometer. The data, when extrapolated to T = 0, yield values of H = 96.24 gauss and y = 1.835 o mJ/(mole °K2), for Mo, and H = 28.05 gauss and y = 0.685 mJ/(mole K2) for Cd. The extrapolation to H = 0 yields T values of 0.9l34°K and 0.5l5°K for Mo and Cd, respectively. These values, together with the experimental data, are used to calculate the superconducting electronic entropy and the deviation of the critical field curve from parabolicity over the entire temperature range. The results show satisfactory agreement with previous measurements, and with Clem's theory of anisotropy.
