Exclusive diffractive dissociation of KL mesons at high energies
Abstract
dc:description"Using the hadronic component of the Fennilab broad band neutral beam, we have observed diffractive dissociation of KL mesons with a carbon target into the exclusive final states Ks pi+pi-, K*(890)+-pi+, Ks Ksw and Kstheta , but not Ks ""t"" The diffractive production cross section for these states is not strongly dependent on incident energy varying at most by 30 percent between 75 and 150 Gev. The shapes of the mass distributions do not change appreciably as a function of lab energy. The ratio of the diffractive mass threshold production of K* (890); pi+ , Ks f , Ks W and Ks f6 is compared with results of two other experiments at lower lab energies with charged kaon beams on a hydrogen target."
