This thesis addresses various aspects of perception and memory in terms of the underlying neural dynamics. Not dealt with explicitly are some of the philosophical issues concerning the relation of mind and brain. The nature of the connection between neural and mental phenomena is a controversial issue among contemporary philosophers, and is not likely to be resolved soon (Popper, 1974].
