A study of short-lived deuterium and short-lived deuterium* mesons
Abstract
dc:descriptionHadronic decays of the $D\sb{s}$ are studied in $e\sp+e\sp-$ annihilation at center-of-mass energy 4.14 GeV/c$\sp2$. The data were collected with the Mark III detector at the storage ring SPEAR at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The $D\sb{s}$ mesons are produced predominantly in the reaction $e\sp+e\sp-\to D\sbsp{s}{\pm}D\sbsp{s}{\*\mp}$, allowing measurement of the $D\sb{s}$ and $D\sbsp{s}{\*}$ masses. Measurements or upper limits of the cross section times branching fraction are presented for D\sbsp{s}{+}\to\phiπ\sp+, K$\sp{\*0}$K$\sp+$, non-resonant K$\sp+$K\sp-π\sp+, \phiπ\sp+π\sp0, $\phi\rho\sp+$, \etaπ\sp+, ωπ\sp+, and \eta\sp\primeπ\sp+. The relative branching fraction for D\sbsp{s}{+}\to\eta\sp\primeπ\sp+ is significantly smaller than previous measurements.
