Comparative analyses of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene sequences and morphological characters of selected taxa of Loculoascomycetes: Phylogenetic implications

Abstract

dc:description

The loculoascomycetes comprise a large number of fungi with fissitunicate asci and ascostromatic ascomata. Various classification schemes have been proposed based on different taxonomic criteria. Phylogenetic relationships of many organisms in the Loculoascomycetes are vague because of the complex array of these organisms. The research in this dissertation was conducted at different taxonomic levels using both molecular and morphological approaches.
