A guide to the use of etudes and exercises in teaching the tuba
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis project contains a thorough investigation of current pedagogical writings in tuba performance and training. Using Gordon Mathie's Trumpet Teacher's Guide as a model, the project then combines a list of performance and musical elements with a graded list of etudes and exercises for specific work on the individual elements. Cross-referencing to the discussion in pedagogical writings is provided. The Study concludes that while there remains certain omissions from tuba training materials such as contemporary special effects, there are sufficient tuba materials in the current repertory for the training of professional tuba performers.
