Abstract
dc:descriptionThe objective of this thesis project is to design a robotaxi vehicle. The term “Robotaxi” is a combination of the words “robot” and “taxi”, and it is also referred to as the “robot taxi” or the self-driving shared vehicle. This type of vehicle is the result of rapid advancements in autonomous driving technology, and it has been recognized for its disruptive influence within the domain of autonomous driving. Traditional automobiles contribute to congestion and are either parked or occupied by one person for the majority of the time. The integration of robotaxis holds the potential to enhance mobility efficiency and the quality of transportation experiences. This project will focus on exploring a novel form for robotaxi that prioritizes high maneuverability and also has a highly configurable layout. This will be achieved by implementing omnidirectional wheels and modular platform architecture. It is notable that all features will be implemented within a compact size. The project has been designated “OmniGo”, derived from the combination of “omnidirectional” and “go”. The project encompasses four primary aspects: the design of the platform, the design of omni-wheels, the design of the body frame, and styling. The platform serves as the foundational element of modular platform architecture, thereby facilitating the design of omni-wheels and the frame. These components are enhanced through styling to ensure the overall cohesion and appeal of the design.
