The architecture of the Greek revival and its influence in America

It is the purpose of this study to develop this method of approach in order to explain the origin and nature of the Greek Revival movement, its spread over Europe, and its ultimate flowering in America; to develop the architectural theory or underlying philosophy which acted as a stimulating creed for the whole movement in America; to show the extent of its influence upon our early architecture; to present evidences of its influence upon modern work; and to predict the probable influence it will have upon the future architectural development in America.
