Tuning methods in digital waveguide synthesis
Abstract
dc:descriptionDigital waveguide synthesis is a method of musical synthesis that can generate complex, realistic sounds. However, this method also suffers from tuning error from two major sources. This thesis seeks to explore the nature of these tuning problems, as well as find and analyze practical methods of solving them. Several methods are introduced which can decrease the overall tuning error of these instruments, as well as increase the bandwidth under which they sound in tune to the human ear.
