Experiment and simulation study on a novel, effective radiative cooing film
Abstract
dc:descriptionSpace cooling consumes a large portion of U.S. household use, and traditional air conditioning system poses a net heating effect to the global climate. Daytime radiative cooling (DRC) is a passive cooling method with zero energy consumption. It features a high ultraviolet visible near-infrared (UV-Vis-NIR) reflectivity and high IR emissivity, and thus achieves the cooling effect even under intense sunlight. A simple, cost-effective process is proposed to fabricate DRC film whose optical properties are characterized by spectrometers. The outdoor test and relevant simulation show the promising potential of our DRC material. Furthermore, the performance of cooling film and water panel is evaluated by simulation based on an iteration method. This project improves the understanding on DRC material and provides a new perspective for cooling film fabrication.
