Abstract
dc:description.abstractDue to the biochemical and pharmacological interest in cyclitols, alone, and in combination with other molecules, the biosynthesis of these compounds has been studied in a number of laboratories. Kiely and Sherman recently developed a chemical model which describes the proposed mechanism for the cyclization step in the biosynthesis of the most common cyclitol, myo-inositol.
