Current patterns and future directions in parent education: A Delphi study
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to identify current patterns and future directions in parent education. Selection of 200 parent educators who participated in a parent-education conference created the study's sample. Initially, 41 people responded to the three-round Delphi survey, which provided consensus of opinion on the two research questions: "What are the current patterns in parent education?" and "What are the future directions in parent education?" Round I respondents identified current patterns and future directions by answering open-ended questions. Ideas that were similar were combined into succinct representative statements by the researcher. In Round II, participants used a Likert-type scale to indicate agreement with the statements. The Round III questionnaire, composed of the 10 patterns and 11 directions receiving highest means along with the means, allowed respondents to again indicate agreement and achieve consensus.
