The Lived Experience of Deaf Education: How Macro Events Impact the Deaf Community and the Self

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This qualitative study looks to understand the lived experience of deaf education. Educational leaders seek out to improve the conditions of teaching and learning, however it seems challenging for deaf administrators to see through transformative changes within deaf education. This study seeks to understand why this occurs through learning more from those who have experienced deaf education as a student and as a professional. Data from the interviews were coded and categorized in several themes and further investigated with the impact of macro events surrounding deaf education. This study allows us to reflect about the importance of bringing the community together to see through change.
