Cultural Politics of South Korean Ngos In Neoliberal Era

<p>This ethnographic study examines the ethical practices and politics of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that contribute to the presence and support of North Korean migrants in South Korea. In South Korea, NGOs involved in all matters regarding North Koreans are known for the crucial roles they play supporting and advocating on behalf of North Koreans. They are also stand out as their numbers and activities dwarf all other NGOs in South Korea. The supportive activities of these NGOs employ global and transnational practices, while engaging in specific cultural politics, ethics and the relationship. I focus on the NGOs' challenges such as the matter of flexibility, an ambivalent relationship with the South Korean government and the neoliberal changes in NGOs.</p>
