A Comparison of Instructional Design Methodologies for Central Venous Catheterization in a Mannequin-based Healthcare Simulation
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>Simulations are becoming a widespread educational tool in healthcare. However, there is little research exploring the effectiveness and efficiency of instructional design methodologies compatible with mannequin-based simulations. Modern mannequins can breathe, blink, bleed, and speak. This study compares two instructional design models to see which leads to a higher mean score on a competency checklist assessing clinician sterility and competence performing a central venous catheterization.</p>
