Study of Porous Materials Incorporating Boronate Esters

<p> COF-18Å is one type of Covalent Organic Framework (COF) that incorporates self-assembling covalent bonded boronate esters as secondary building units to form a porous material. COF-18Å has the ability to store gases, high surface areas, good thermal stability, but is susceptible to hydrolysis. Preliminary results show that the covalent organic frameworks have the ability to be repaired, recycled, and resynthesized after hydrolysis. Further exploration of porous materials incorporating boronate esters explores the use of empty p-orbital of the boronate ester. The formation of boron nitrogen dative bond results in the engineering of Supramolecular Boronate Materials a new class of porous materials.</p>
