Abstract
dc:description.abstractThieno [2,3-d] pyrimidines have, so far, been synthesised mainly from thiophen derivatives. The work described in this thesis is largely concerned with a search for general methods of synthesising substituted thieno [2,3-d] pyrimidines from pyrimidines.
