Risk management in implementation project of software solution at Síminn

Síminn, the leading Telecommunication company in Iceland, has since its privatisation implementated several different software solutions to improve its operations and profitabilty to increase its competitiveness . This study is only on the largest implementation on out of the box software solutions. It was apparent that lessons learned from these projects were scarce. The aim of this research is to to shed light on how these projects were managed in regards to risk. The result of the research is that for most parts risk management was informal and relatively little time was invested in risk management activities. When comparing the risk management to the process in PMBOk it is apparent that very few activities are conducted in Síminn projects and it seems like there are great opportunites to improve risk management in future projects.
