Positive Relationships: A Jewish Perspective

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Positive relationships are central to individual and communal flourishing. Research suggests that interpersonal responsiveness, character strengths, and shared experiences may be especially critical to cultivating and nurturing positive relationships. Positive psychology is most effective when culturally informed. Integrating and drawing parallels between Jewish laws, beliefs, values, and customs and the science of positive psychology, Positive Judaism offers a holistic approach to those who want to enhance their well-being from a Jewish perspective. Based on this framework, several religiously and culturally informed positive psychology interventions designed to foster positive relationships are proposed. The information contained in this capstone is intended to be taught as part of a workshop series. Successful implementation of this series will empower and equip Jewish young adults with practical tools and strategies to build and maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships.
