THE CONSTRUCTION OF NAPHTHOTUBES AND THEIR APPLICATIONS IN MOLECULAR RECOGNITION, ENANTIOSELECTIVE RECOGNITION AND CHARGE TRANSFER

The molecular recognition of macrocyclic hosts plays a critical role in their functions in supramolecular chemistry and biological systems. However, the understanding of molecular recognition remains limited. Herein, a series of new macrocyclic hosts (naphthotubes) with the deep hydrophobic cavity, polar sites inside the cavity, and good water-solubility have been designed and synthesized. Firstly, the exceptional binding properties and optical tuning abilities of amide naphthotubes with a series of fluorescent dyes were systematically discussed. Secondly, a new pair of water-soluble chiral naphthotubes with enantioselective recognition ability were synthesized and their chiral recognition abilities were thoroughly studied. Lastly, two new amine naphthotubes were prepared through a post-modification strategy, and their properties in molecular recognition and electron transfer were explored. We hope that the findings from this research will contribute to a better understanding of molecular recognition and open new avenues for the development of macrocyclic hosts in various fields.
