Cancer, a leading cause of death worldwide, despite the enormous amount of effort being invested in finding the cure. This thesis examines the development of a nano-biohybrid system, termed nano-Cell Vesicle Technology System (nCVTs), as a drug delivery system for cancer therapy. Being a hybrid system of cell-derived and liposomal systems, nCVTs aims to harness the synergism, while overcoming the flaws of the individual components. We demonstrated the development of nCVTs, through optimizing its production process and formulation to enhance the reliability and scalability of the technology. nCVTs was also shown to be able to encapsulate both small molecules and biologics, through active loading or functionalization strategy adopted from liposome. Furthermore, these therapeutic-loaded nCVTs have displayed an improved target cellular uptake, and thus enhanced therapeutic efficacy. These findings suggest that nCVTs holds a great potential to be developed into a versatile drug delivery platform for a more targeted cancer therapy.
