A NEW CONTROLLED VIDEO FRAME LOSS SCHEME FOR VIDEO TRANMISSION OVER HIGH SPEED NETWORKS

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

The goal of our research work is to design a new congestion control scheme for a video multiplexer to obtain high video multiplex load with acceptable video quality. This is termed "Controlled Video Frame Loss Scheme" (CVFL) and its implementation is discussed in detail in this thesis. By means of computer simulation, it is shown that the boundary multiplex load for a video multiplexer using the proposed CVFL scheme is of the order of 0.78. This is much higher than the value of 0.5 reported for other schemes. The CVFL scheme can thus be used in unidirectional bus networks (UBNs) for video transmission and video-data integration. A corresponding transmission protocol and the simulation results for video frame loss and data delay performance are also described.
