A Study to Determine Teachers' Perceptions of the Effectiveness of Remedial Programs

The purpose of this study was to determine elementary teachers' perceptions of the effectiveness of remedial programs. The programs investigated were traditional pull-out programs, remedial instruction in the homeroom, and double staffed classrooms. The data was collected in the form of a questionnaire designed by the researcher. Elementary teachers were surveyed to determine which program they perceived to be most effective in meeting the needs of remedial students and promoting positive self-concepts. The analysis of the data showed that the teachers felt that the double staffed classroom was the best program to meet the needs of remedial students and that all three programs promoted positive self-concepts.
