Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis study was undertaken to investigate the benefits and deficits of a discipline policy based on certain assertive discipline principles as viewed by the students and teachers involved and to determine the effectiveness of the discipline program within an elementary setting. Also, of importance, were the attitudes which were suggested by those surveyed. The fifth and sixth grade students and the fifth and sixth grade teachers were targeted in the study. The questionnaires involved were devised, in such a manner, as to indicate a range of agreement from strongly agree to strongly disagree. After the study, the findings show that an assertive discipline program is valuable and workable and would be of great benefit in a K-12 situation.
