A Study to Determine Teachers' Opinions Toward School-Age Child Care
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the opinions of elementary teachers toward the effects of school-age child care. The data was gathered by use of a questionnaire designed by the researcher. Elementary teachers were surveyed to determine their opinions of the effects of school-age child care on achievement, self-esteem, behavior and attitude toward school. The analysis of the data revealed that elementary teachers tended to agree that parental care is more advantageous to the child's academic and social growth. Elementary teachers felt that self-care and attending a school-age child care center were less suitable for academic and social growth but expressed no opinion as to which of the two was the least desirable.
