Quality Circles and the Communication Satisfaction of Participants

The following study investigated the relationship between quality circle participation and communication satisfaction. It was hypothesized that a positive relationship existed between communication satisfaction and quality circle participation. The study employed established criteria of communication satisfaction operationalized through the Downs-Hazen measure of communication satisfaction. The two study groups, participants and non-participants of an established quality circle program, were non-production workers of a local manufacturing plant. The 39-item LIkert-type scale was distributed and collected from 111 employees. The hypothesis was not confirmed. The discussion presents the implications of the results as well as suggestions for future research.
